Why change was needed
Running payroll is the most important thing our sellers do, but the experience wasn’t setting them up for success.
The old page was slow (sometimes taking 20+ seconds to load, or not loading at all for larger teams), cluttered with information that didn’t add value, and didn’t do a great job of guiding sellers to the tasks they actually needed to complete.
For something this critical, we needed to do better.
Designing a better way
We redesigned the Run Payroll page to focus on speed, clarity, and confidence. Instead of an “overview” weighed down with noise, we turned it into a true hub for running payroll — the one place sellers could rely on to pay their team smoothly every time.

The impact

The redesigned page is faster, cleaner, and more reliable. Sellers can now run payroll without frustration, and larger businesses — who were previously blocked — can trust that the system will scale with them. Internally, it also unlocked faster iteration by removing tax logic from the frontend and moving content management out of the codebase.
